How is a Laser Beam Different From a Tactical Flashlight?

Light is very useful. The presence of light helps us to become more productive and thus, accomplish more. Take for example, tactical flashlights are multi-purpose torch lights in compact packages. Laser beams are compact too, and are use for other special and daily tasks as well. Both are portable light sources, but what’s the difference between the two?

The main difference

To settle it once and for all, the huge difference between a tactical flashlight and a laser beam is the light concentration. Tactical flashlights emit light that is less concentrated and far more spread out compared to the thin and precise light emitted by laser beams.

Differences in common usage: How is it used?

  • Lasers are a lot more precise than flash lights, which make them best for meticulous work. Laser beams have a lot of uses for medicine, metal, and entertainment technologies. The precise and often invisible but highly concentrated light has the energy to make precise cuts on metals, or for reading CDs in classic CD players. The most common lasers have a red or green visible light, often use for pointers in presentations.

  • Tactical flashlights on the other hand are more commonly used. It is generally used to light up a dark or dim area, and may have a place in basically any part of our daily lives. It could be used in fixing your car, finding lost or misplaced documents, lighting up a dark path, and even blinding a potential aggressor for self defense.

Speaking of self defense, these two have more specific purposes for shooting. Here they are:

Differences for self-defense: Which is better for shooting?

  • Did you know that laser beam lights and tactical flashlights could be mounted on guns for shooting? Laser beam emits a green or red light that is good for marking the target. It’s a great accessory for beginner shooters, as you only have to have night vision glasses to see them. Basically, once mounted on the gun, all you need to do is point the laser beam at the target, shoot, and you got it! It’s perfect for equipping beginners with precise shooting skills despite zero or minimal training.

  • However, if you really want to train someone to be great at shooting for the long run, laser beams may not be the best. Because once you’ve been using it for a long time and you go shooting without it, the aim has a high probability of being bad. On the other hand, some mount tactical flashlights on guns to have a better view and awareness of their surroundings. Shooting in the dark could make a shooter blindsided. The disadvantage of this however, is it is good for practice, but not exactly for real-life situations, as turning on a tactical flashlight would mean broadcasting where your exact location is.

Lastly, it is also important to know that tactical flashlights could serve more daily purposes compared to laser beams, depending on what you do. As tactical flashlights illuminate, while laser beams are mainly used for tasks that require precision. Tactical flashlights are often made to be sturdier too and are often sold for a higher price. If you are thinking of buying one of the two, consider your purpose first.

Let’s face it, a tactical flashlight is expected to fall in one way or another and we can’t throw a big amount of money on something that will leave us after a fall or two. This innovation is present in models like SRT 6 and 7.

  • Convenient power source

Nitecore is also known for its power source convenience, as it makes use of up to 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Tactical Flashlights Buying Guide: Selecting the perfect fit for your needs

Tactical flashlights are extremely functional companions in our daily life. They could be used in a wide range of utility purposes, and could even be used for self-defense.

They have evolved from the heavy and bulky flashlight illuminated by fragile bulbs and D or AA batteries, to the now extremely durable, compact, and more functional tactical flashlights fit for every day carry and use.

Tactical flashlights are now powered by LED, a more compact and energy-efficient light source that has a longer life span. Its top grade, CREE LED, is said to have a life span that could last up to 100,000 hours. CREE flashlight review from its users are proof that these types of light source could last up to more than 5 years and counting.

If you’re looking for a tactical flashlight to be your everyday companion in your daily tasks and possibly some emergencies, here’s a guide to help you choose the best tactical flashlight there could possibly be.

Before proceeding, bear goals and purpose for buying one in mind. Once you’ve decided, it will be easy to have one perfect for your needs.

Purpose and functionality

If you’re a fireman, police, hunter, or in the special forces, you would know exactly how important and what tactical flashlights are for, however, an average person would probably never be able to imagine how often he/she may pull out a tactical flashlight if he/she had one.

Tactical flashlights are highly functional. They come in handy in almost every emergency situation and even make daily tasks become easier feats to accomplish.

What are you going to be using the flashlight for?

If it’s only for finding lost things in the dark or finding your way back whenever you lose direction in a dark place, a low lumens level would be enough.

However, if you intend to use it for self defense as a distracting light source, a weapon for hitting, or a blinding light, a higher lumens level and a sturdy body is a must.

A higher lumens level is brighter, has the capacity to be blinding, and could illuminate a larger space. However, it also consumes battery life faster.

Tactical flashlights are not only handy and portable. They have become one of man’s greatest companion for their high functionality. A tactical flashlight with only one function will limit you to what it already has when you buy it

Special modes

NITECORE P12 1000 Lumens Precise Tactical Flashlight CREE XM-L2 U2 LED Waterproof Flashlight 2015 Version

Take for example, a flashlight with only one mode could either have a flood or throw beam. This is an important consideration.

Would you like to use it to see something far, or would you like it to illuminate a wider area? Flood illuminates wider areas, while throw reaches longer and is especially more useful for target shooting and hunting.

Some more advanced tactical flashlights are also equipped with more modes like strobe, SOS, and beacon. Strobe is a inconsistent blinking light that is used to distract an opponent, while SOS and beacon modes are for survival and are great in conserving battery.

Light source

As for lighting sources, flashlights started to be equipped with classic bulbs that overheat after long usage and break after a fall. This was before LED light took the game to another level, as it provided energy efficient, brighter, and lighter light sources for flashlights. It made it possible for flashlights to be smaller and pocket sized, without compromising light quality.

For most of the mid-range to high-end flashlights, “CREE” could be seen. This is the best LED light created, with a longer life span, an even higher energy efficiency and light brightness. CREE flashlight review articles say that you won’t feel the need to charge it often despite using a high lumens mode.

Durability and Longevity

It is also important for most people to have a companion that lasts. Would you want to buy the perfect handy tactical flashlight only to be compelled to replace it regularly?

Most tactical flashlights are made to last, but it’s important to dissect the components that make it last longer.

People had been looking for lighter and more compact tactical flashlights now. This has given way to manufacturing tactical flashlights with a plastic chassis.

Tactical flashlights with a body made of plastics or composite are definitely lighter and cost less, but may not be as sturdy as its steel, titanium, and anodized aluminum counterparts.

Titanium on the other hand is light and sturdy too, but is very costly. Stainless steel is on the heavy side, despite its durability, and anodized aluminum is what most tactical flashlights are made of now.

If you’re particular about the weight and durability of the body, especially if you are considering using this as a weapon for self-defense when the need arises, these are facts that could be considered.

Same with functionality and purpose, the light source is important for longevity too.

Some bulbs are meant to last longer than others, and some can emit a large amount of light for a longer lifespan than others could.

The best would be CREE LED.

If you are on a budget, don’t settle for anything less than an LED unless there’s a need for you to. These bulbs are meant to last long and strong, and they are better companions especially for the long run.

Lastly, the budget is an important factor to consider in buying one. A budget need not be a limiting factor, but it could challenge your goals.

Knowing what you need creates a big difference. Knowing your device well enough to know how to take care of it would also help you make it last?

For the body, plastic and composites chassis are usually the cheapest. The prices go higher and higher from anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.

For the light source, LED lights are not expensive at all, but the longer lasting and brighter CREE lights would cost more. You can choose which ones you’d need for the tactical flashlight that would fit your needs.

Making tactical flashlights an every day companion

A tactical flashlight could be useful in more ways than one. It is called “tactical” because it was initially created to serve tactical purposes for men in the military or police in a mission.

Tactical flashlights could be used in self defense, or simply in finding lost things or a lost direction. You may not appreciate its use at first, but once you have it, you’ll be surprised at how often you may have to pull it out when in need.

A tactical flashlight could make daily tasks easier simply by providing the user better sight of what he or she is doing. Our sight is one of our strongest senses, and providing ample light when needed makes a big difference.

It is therefore practical to consider a tactical flashlight that could be a daily companion. By having one, it must be mobile and easy to carry around for you to be able to take it around with you and have it within reach when you need it. What would an everyday companion tactical flashlight be if it’s in your room when you need it in your office?

There are several criteria to consider in choosing an everyday tactical flashlight. Here are some:

Size and weightmaking-tactical-flashlights-an-every-day-companion-3

This is one of the primary things to consider in choosing an everyday carry flashlight.

It has to be light an compact enough for you to be able to carry it around without any discomfort, or even without noticing it.

Some tactical flashlights could simply be put in your pocket, but it would be easier to have it hanging on your belt

The material of the chassis is mostly what accounts for the tactical flashlight’s weight. Most flashlights are made of anodized aluminum, they are light and durable enough. Some are made of lighter plastics, while others are made of an equally light but significantly more expensive titanium. If you don’t think you would mind the weight, a stainless steel is a good option too.

An everyday carry flashlight would mostly be needed for simply illumination.

If this is the case, you may simply buy any simple but durable tactical flashlight available.

However, if you are considering to use it for self defense, you may consider buying ones with a solid and rigid body, and special modes for blinding or distracting an aggressor. An easily manipulated switch is also a must.

It’s important to choose your everyday companion well.

The goal is to make it a part of your daily life, and to even make it an extension of yourself.

With this in mind, you can choose one that you are comfortable with in terms of controls, modes, weight, size, shape, and grip.

Once you get your ideal tactical flashlight buddy, I doubt you’d be thrilled to have to change it when it breaks or stops functioning.

To really have it easily carried with you around your routines, it must be able to last long and strong. Look for tactical flashlights with a solid chassis and a LED light that has a long life span.

Most of the durable tactical flashlights that are meant to last a lifetime would significantly cost more than the others. That may sound like an impractical buy, but it’s a wise choice for something that you’d like to keep for years and years.

Instead of buying a new one each time the old one breaks, or instead of buying one that will eventually break and deciding that you wouldn’t want the hassle of a tactical flashlight anymore, it’s better to buy a tactical flashlight that will last for a long time.

There are many mid-range and high-end choices to choose from. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages in terms of cost, durability, and weight, but you could make up for that by knowing its capacities and limitations and taking care of it as needed.

All in all, a tactical flashlight is a fantastic investment. It could definitely help you become more productive in your daily task.

If you are considering buying one, I suggest for you not to back out on this plan. This is one of the best decisions one could ever make. Just keep in mind that a good tactical flashlight would be one that would be within reach when you need it. That includes emergencies that you may have no foresight on, so it’s best to have one you’d be comfortable bringing around with you at all times.

Survival Tips In A Jungle

Love to travel and explore new adventures on our green earth? Travelling across the world has become a lifestyle for many people these days. However, there is no comfort in this feat. To adapt yourself to different environments, follow this simple rule: “When in Rome, do like Romans do”.

We all are used to savor the pleasure of luxurious life we humans have created on this globe, but our souls are actually put to test when it comes to surviving in a jungle. The basic threat that one faces in a jungle life is getting our basic needs— food, water and shelter. Here are few survival tips that you can keep note of in case you have decided to spend a day in one.

Look for safe water source

Water is the basic need for survival; be it in urban areas or a jungle. Jungle areas are mostly rainfall prone areas so water is not usually hard to find. However, the collected water needs to be purified so that you are not succumbing to illness. One of the techniques is making a solar still.

In constructing a solar still, choose a moist area in the jungle where you can easily dig a bowl-shaped hole. Place a container in the middle of this pit covered with a plastic sheet and a small rock placed in the center of this sheet. The moisture will react with the heat and produce condensation that will be forced down in your container.

If there is a river or stream, you can collect water from it. Don’t forget to boil the water so that it’s safe to drink. You can easily find a large shell or a can to boil the water.

Find edible food

Another thing needed for survival is food. Jungle is a hub of various plants and animals that are edible, but you need to be careful enough before you consume any of them. Some of the tips to be kept in mind are: avoid plants with umbrella-shaped flowers, the ones that have thorns, and plants with white or yellow berries.

You can try your hand on fishing, too, by carving your own 4-pronged bamboo spear. To do so, just find a piece of 6 to 8 feet of bamboo stick and make an intersecting cross- cut creating four prongs and sharpen these prongs with a knife and here is your bamboo spear.

Make a reliable shelter

shelterPhoto source:

A shelter is needed in a jungle to protect you from wildlife intruders. This can be done by following few simple steps. Find a big branch and lean it against a tree and provide a support for it by placing smaller branches at 45 degree angle. Cover this entire structure using a plastic cover or foliage and leaves.

Create a fire

Fire is much needed in a jungle for variety of reasons. It can be for protection from cold, boiling and purifying water, cooking eatables, scaring away wild animals or creating a smoke for a rescue signal.

You need something to heat the wood at a very high temperature in a jungle to create the spark. This heat can be produced from a lot of different things – a match, concentrating light, or something that creates a friction.

Avoid dangerous animals

Watch out for the snakes and poisonous insects in the jungle. It’s good to follow your track without making any noise. If you don’t, you will put the attract animals to your direction. It’s good to keep a stick or a machete to clear the vegetation around you, which will even help you in avoiding the spider webs. Rub down mud on the exposed skin to prevent mosquito bites. Be careful while handling plants too as some have big thorns while some are poisonous.

Track your path

Walk in one general direction in a jungle so you won’t get lost. Follow the trails that are left by the animals as this will gradually lead you to some open areas or water sources nearby which will also help you to track down your rescue path.

Survival Tips In A Deserted Island

When we dream of paradise, we think of sparkling blue waters, lingering smell of fresh air and fine white sands. But what if this kind of place would make that dream of yours turned upside down? Let’s suppose that you are trapped on an island all by yourself that might be either because of a shipwreck, a land crash, or that you have been left out with your companions. However depressing it would be does not mean it’s the end for you. The chance of your survival is still there, you just have to work it.

stranded in an islandPhoto source:

Check your physical condition

First things first, if you’re on a deserted island because of a shipwreck or a land crash, examining if you are well is your first priority. See if you have caught some wounds. No matter how little it would be, it should not be taken for granted and should be treated as soon as  possible as it might become infected and might got worse. It is best to be very careful to prevent any further injuries and damages.

If you are soaked with water, make sure to take your clothes off and dry them for a while. Find any available things that can be used to cover yourself as overexposure to sunlight and cold winds might be the last thing you need.

Create a shelter

Once done, you can now prepare for the things that are needed for your survival in a deserted island. It is important to acquire a shelter. Make one from any materials that can be found in the island. In this kind of situation, anything will do. You might find some useful things in the broken airplane or boat you are in during the tragedy. Any broken pieces, even if it looks like a piece of junk, might prove useful to you in the future. All you need to know is their proper use. Small pieces of wood can be dried up and can be used to make a fire while the big ones can be used for the shelter. Remember that sleeping in the ground may not be such a good idea.

You should also consider choosing the suitable location for your shelter. Right now, your shelter does not need to be a means of comfort but rather a mere protection for you in the climate of the tropics. Make sure your shelter isn’t nearby with any coconut trees as coconuts may fell unexpectedly that might cause damage to your shelter and even to you

Protect yourself from animals and insects

You should know that even if it is a deserted island, it is not merely deserted. There are some living creatures in the area and you may find some to be dangerous. Common are mosquitoes and poisonous snakes in the tropics.  Make some ways to protect yourself from the mosquitoes, like making any mosquito nets or anything of that sort.

As for those poisonous snakes, try to get the area unobstructed and always keep the fire going so as to prevent any to come close to you.

stranded in an islandPhoto source:

Find edible food

Since you’re in a deserted island, finding some food may not be that hard as there are a lot of sources of food in the area. However, searching for foods that are eatable may not be that easy. There may be a lot of foods but you cannot be certain that those foods do not contain any harmful substances that might poison you.

You can always examine the food and check whether or not it is poisonous. As for the sea food, especially the clams and seashells, see if it is easy to open because if it is, then you should throw it away as it cannot be eaten anymore. Those that are hard to open are most likely the safer ones. Try to cook them still just to make sure.

Look for water

You should not forget one of the most important things; that is, to find a good source of water. You cannot survive without water for just three days, especially on tropical areas where the heat of the sun is much stronger. If you are in an island with a lot of trees that can be a source of water, then consider yourself fortunate.

Your last option would be the seawater, but don’t drink it recklessly. You can only drink seawater when you are able to distill it. You can do it if you know how to make a solar still. If not, then refrain from drinking one as it can cause you to dehydrate much faster than drinking nothing.

Don’t panic.

Once you have grasped the situation you are in, remind yourself to keep your composure. Panicking can get you to nowhere; instead, it would just make the situation worse. If you are overpowered with terror, you may lose your ability to think clearly. Keeping your composure would be the thing you need most for you to be able to survive as well as for you to get out in the forest.

Find shelter.

Forests are known for their plentiful amount of trees or woods, in particular. These would be favorable to you as it can give out a lot of benefits in accordance with your survival.

Just in case you still have not yet been found and you would need to stay up for the night in the forest, you can create or find a place where you can stay. There might be some caves or a big hole in a tree that can be used as your shelter. If there’s none, then you have to build one. You can use a branch of a tree or an agreeable size of wood that would act up as a structure while the leaves of trees would serve as a cover or a roof in your shelter.

Look for food and water.

After you are done with that, you should now go find a source of food and water. Search for trees that bear fruits and check if it is safe to eat. Surely, your experience would not be fulfilled without  eating any bugs. Do not worry about its taste as it is not your concern for the time being. If you want, you can cook them just to make sure. You should take off their heads and tails before eating.

As for the water, you should search any existing body of water in the area. A stream would do, although it is not certain that it is safe to drink as it is not purified and might hold a large number of bacteria. To be sure, sterilize the water by heating it up to its boiling point.

Make a fire.

It’s a good thing a lot of woods that you can use to make a fire. Having a fire is of great use to you. You can use it to cook your food, sterilize water and warm you especially during the night. However, make sure that you’re fire is not big enough to cause an accident. Remember that a lot of trees surround you.

Think about your safety.

What are mentioned so far are the basic needs— food, water, and shelter. They are what you need in your daily life. However, since you are trapped in a forest, your survival require more than just your physiological need. Your desire for safety needs should be look upon, too. The key for you to go back safely is to take a careful step in whatever you do.

Don’t stray far.

As soon as you realize that you are lost, you should only move within a minimum area. If you stay on the place where you lost track, the possibility to find you easily would be high. Whenever you do move because you need to find some food and water, make sure to mark or put anything that will indicate that you have been there. In this way, you would know your way back in your ground zero. In case there would be passerby, it might as well serve as a  sign that you have been there . It’s not good to completely rely on help but it’s not bad to ask for it either.

7 Uses of The Tactical Flashlight For Keeping A Safe And Efficient Lifestyle

The ordinary flashlight in itself has one commonly known use: shedding light in the darkness. However, there is a tougher flashlight designed for tactical purposes: the tactical flashlight. The word tactical is an adjective that is used to refer to and describe anything that is created to serve a specific purpose to enhance military and police efficiency. They are thus made of more durable material, and are designed to be more functional than the common flashlight. Tougher and versatile, that’s a simple way of describing the tactical flashlight.

Although ‘tactical’, tactical flashlights are slowly getting popularity among civilians as a tool that may come in handy for utility and self-defense. The tactical flashlight can be used in many ways in a common person’s everyday life. Having it around at all times could be more than handy for anyone. Ever wonder what other uses a tactical flashlight may have other than providing light? Here’s a complete guide on the wide array of tactical flashlight use in everyday life and survival:

The sections are divided into two larger groups of usage: enhancing the sense of sight and saving lives. The subtitles with red text are specifically for the self defense, while the rest of the subtitles are more on being more efficient in our daily tasks.

1. Enhancing our sense of sight: finding and seeing things

  • A tactical flashlight could always come in handy for finding things, or simply allowing us to see better in our chores.
  • Tactical flashlights, or flashlights generally, aren’t just useful at night. We encounter dark corners round the clock every day. You may be trying to find something lost, like that watch that you suspect to have fallen under your bed. Or you may simply need more light in fixing your car in the garage or your TV.
  • Our sense of sight is important in most of our daily tasks. Seeing clearly under well-lighted conditions is a prerequisite to working efficiently. Seeing our tasks and environment clearly allows us to move with confidence and well-thought of strategies that we may not have if we don’t see what’s ahead of us clearly.

To maximize the use of a gadget, it is important to know what it is and is not capable of doing. Along segments of this article, some modifications and modes will be discussed to give a better understanding of a tactical flashlight’s functionality and limits.

Throw and Flood mode

A flashlight’s light can have two modes of spreading; each designed for a specific purpose. It can extend farther vertically, or spread wider around you. The longer ray of light that has a much defined beam is called “throw”, while the wider ray of light that illuminates your immediate surroundings but doesn’t reach too far is called “flood”. In general, flashlights with good flooding are good for seeing close-up and immediate objects, while throw is more useful in seeing objects that are more distant. Some tactical flashlights offer to have both options, with a knob or button for switching modes.

2. Enhancing our sense of sight: survival and sending signals

Emergencies are inevitable in our lives. We always face the danger of losing electricity at home, getting stuck at a place without electricity, or being a victim to natural disaster. We never know, but we must not let the fear of the unknown stop us from living. Tactical flashlights now often use led lights, are compact, and have long lasting batteries. They also have modes that are specially designed for survival.

S.O.S. and Beacon Mode

  • In case of being in need for rescue, some tactical flashlights have flashing SOS and Beacon modes that flash a bright beam of light in definite time intervals. This gives off a message to rescuers of your need for rescue, and could even save you the burden of having to build up strength for shouting or moving.
  • Furthermore, carrying a flashlight alone in one’s hand establishes a feeling of vigilance and awareness. To ensure survival in any emergency situation, keep flashlight within reach and hold on to it when in an unfamiliar or dangerous place. It won’t hurt to be ahead of the situation, rather than be caught off-guard.

3. Enhancing our sense of sight: in special situations [light filters]

Tactical flashlights could be equipped with different accessories that would make it well adapted to specialized situations. Tactical flashlight could be equipped with filters. Red filters allow for better night vision, while green filters are good for hunting since it doesn’t drive or scare animals away and it can’t be seen from the side. Some other filters like blue and yellow are mostly used for seeing blood for investigation purposes.

4. Enhancing our sense of sight: identifying the aggressor

  • Dangerous elements often lurk in the dark. When we are faced with danger or simply uncertainty, light could be of great help. When in the dark, make sure to have a tactical flashlight held tightly on your fist. Shed light towards the direction that you will take. Being visually aware and holistically alert would always put you in an advantageous position in times of danger.
  • Its use is not limited to pre-emptive action. Tactical flashlights are also useful in identifying an anonymous aggressor. It may be a living thing, another human, or simply a lump on the road that you may trip on.
  • When being attacked, make sure to shed light on his or her face and other features. Knowing your attacker may come in handy in the future. Plus, it might make them more uncomfortable and cautious to move when they could clearly be seen. Seeing them would allow you to plan your offense and defense, and would give you an upper hand in the situation.

Aside from that, since you hold the light source, you can mostly control and can and can’t be seen. Shed the light and put it off with your advantages and your attacker’s disadvantage in mind.

5. Enhancing our sense of sight: closing in on target

As mentioned, the tactical flashlight could be used on identifying an aggressor and manipulating light conditions to your advantage. Aside from that, if the need arises for you to make your move, a tactical flashlight could be of help too. Some tactical flashlights come with built-in or detachable mounts to guns. But essentially, you can use it to close in on your target and attack given any weapon in hand.

6. Saving lives: blinding or distracting the aggressor

A very bright light could be used to either temporarily distract or blind an aggressor. This is why it is important to use your light wisely in the event of an attack.

A flashlight’s brightness could be measured in lumens. Tactical flashlights have higher lumens options due to their tactical purpose. The level of brightness that you possess can perform varied tasks. It is important to know how much brightness you need for the tasks that you imagine to have your tactical flashlight help you with.

Counting lumens levels to brighten up a space or damage an aggressor’s sense of sight

Below 60

A tactical flashlight with lumens lower than 60 is enough to illuminate a small space indoors, but most likely would not spread so much light outdoors. This much lumens won’t be enough to temporarily blind a potential aggressor, but could still mess with a person’s night vision if the lumens go higher than 15.

Below 150 but higher than 60

This range is just right for exploring outdoors. This is enough lumens to provide ample lighting in an open space. Arguably, a lumens higher than 100 should be enough to temporarily blind an aggressor (provided that your aggressor’s eyes is adjusted to darkness and the lighting conditions are far from bright in any way). However, on slightly brighter conditions, the amount of lumens needed to blind a person would be higher. It is thus important to note that if you have a tactical flashlight with this lumens range, don’t let your aggressor’s eyes get used to the brightness level in the room before attempting to temporarily blind him or her. Get to it as early on as you may.

Below 300 but higher than 150

This range is much brighter. Lumens closer to 150 will be enough to blind a person temporarily in a lighted place at night. Lumens close to 300 would be enough to cause blindness in an indoor daylight condition. This light is enough to illuminate a large room, or a large outdoor space.

Higher than 300

These are pretty serious lumens right here. Most common flashlights would need a burst mode and specialty batteries to reach this level. With this much levels, it shouldn’t be hard to light up a football field. You should also be more careful in directing this to people’s eyes at any lighting situation. This level of lumens would unquestionably be able to do pretty serious damage to one’s seeing capabilities. Some people who are really particular with their lumens go with tactical flashlights that have a capacity higher than 700. This level is strategically used for rescue operations.

The Strobe mode

Some flashlights come with a Strobe mode. This mode is strategically made to disorient a potential aggressor. This mode is mostly used by police officers when they see the need for it. It sheds of a fast and very bright blinking light in varying patterns to confuse people.

7. Saving lives: striking

A tactical flashlight has different parts. The basic ones would be the body (battery compartment), the switch, the head (LED housing), the tail, and the bezel. As already established, tactical flashlights are utilized to put someone in an advantage in the case of an attack or emergency. The bezel is the tactical flashlight’s part that surrounds the light itself. Some may think that it is sometimes shaped in unique ways for aesthetic purposes. However, bezels are designed with tough and protruding crenulated edges to help break certain surfaces (windows) or even another man’s skull. Use this knowledge with caution though. Only attack and strike if there is a great need to do so. Usually, temporarily blinding a person would be enough to stage an escape and report the situation.

Also, if you want a tactical flashlight that could potentially be used for striking, make sure that you get one with a tough material. Although most tactical flashlights are made of anodized aluminum, stainless steel, or even titanium, there are still some that are made out of plastic to become lightweight. Make sure that you also get a shock-proof tactical flashlight to get the job done.

The key to making the most out of your tactical flashlight (whether you possess it now or you are about to buy a new one for yourself) is knowing the range of what it can and can’t do.

Also, you can’t make the most out of it if you keep it under your bedside table or at the trunk of your car. Keep it in your pocket and with you at all times like that Swiss knife. Unlike many self-defense tools, a tactical flashlight is one of the few (if not the only) ones that you can bring anywhere without it being confiscated. Again, keep it with you whenever possible and always be vigilant on your surroundings. A hidden tactical flashlight is no use for emergencies, but a tactical flashlight in hand can go as far as saving yourself or another precious life.

Invest in accessories that could make your tactical flashlight more portable and easy to carry and use. A case that could be attached to your belt or a belt clip could be purchased if your tactical flashlight won’t fit in your pockets. You can also consider checking the lumens capacity of your light body, and the modes that it has that you can use in case an emergency comes up.

An ideal tactical flashlight that will be your companion in daily life would generally have to be compact and portable, has an easily accessible on and off switch, is blindingly bright to a certain degree, and is sturdy. The rest of the features would depend on your needs, budget, and taste. Any tactical flashlight could be put to good use if you know its capability range and features. Stay safe!
